How to Make Your Own Glitter with Salt - Safe for Kids
73
Children love glitter
If you have been buying craft glitter for your children to decorate their daily craft activities at home, why not make your own salt glitter. It is a fun activity for the children as well. You can have your own colour scheme, blend two or three colours to form a new colour, and you might like to have different shades of the same colour.
To make salt glitter you will need table salt and food colouring. Pour two tablespoons of salt into a bowl. Slowly add the food colouring to the salt until you get the colour you like. Mix well with a spoon until the colour is evenly distributed.
Line a baking tray with aluminium foil. Pour the coloured salt onto the baking tray and spread the salt thinly and evenly on the tray.
Preheat your oven to 170ÂșC. Place the baking tray with salt in the oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
Remove tray from oven and let the salt cool. Use a fork to break up clumps of salt that may have formed. There you go, you have made your own salt glitter.
Pour the salt glitter into a salt shaker and you are ready to use the salt glitter in your craft projects. It is safe for children to use because you know it is made from salt and food colouring. You can even sprinkle it onto your dishes if you want to.
